Massive, fine-grained, translucent gypsum with (at right) clasts of coarse-grained calcite and local coatings of black pyrochroite. Note, at upper center, the pinpoint reflections from cleavage planes that highlight the saccharoidal (“sugary”) texture of this specimen. Franklin Mineral Museum specimen FMM-5684, ex Jim Gouger collection. The FMM acquired this specimen by purchase, probably in 1975 when Mr. Gouger moved to Florida and sold a significant amount of material to the museum.
