Gerstmannite under blue (445 nm) UV Light

Same specimen as in photo GST3a, here viewed under a blue LED light source with peak emission at about 445 nm.  The photograph was taken through a yellow barrier filter fitted to the camera to absorb the blue light and show the true colors of fluorescence.  In this view, the gerstmannite fluoresces olive green, the calcite reddish-orange, the sphalerite orange, and the willemite bright yellowish-green.  This photograph dates from the first observation of fluorescence in gerstmannite; see Mazel and Verbeek (2014) for details.
