Actinolite

Delicate acicular crystals of green actinolite, freed from the enclosing calcite with acid, on a matrix of felted actinolite with minor violet fluorite (right). This specimen can be traced back to April 1991, when Gary Grenier purchased it from Andy Massey, a Franklin resident and dealer in the local minerals. Most of the Grenier collection was subsequently purchased by Steven Phillips, in whose collection this fine example now resides.
