A vein 1.0-1.3 cm thick of reddish-brown schallerite and white calcite cutting granular franklinite-willemite-calcite ore. Roughly parallel to this vein is another of about equal thickness but consisting mostly of faintly pink calcite with a few grains of pale green willemite. The schallerite was confirmed by XRF analysis, which showed an appreciable content of arsenic in the schallerite vein (thus distinguishing it from friedelite and other look-alike minerals) but little in the adjacent ore. This specimen is from the collection of Ray Latawiec and was derived from a larger mass that Mr. Latawiec divided into five smaller ones. The parent mass broke perfectly and produced two major pieces, this being one of them. It was donated to the Franklin Mineral Museum by Mr. Latawiec in June 2022 and now bears the catalog number FMM-2778.
