Schallerite

Close-up view of the right-center part of the specimen shown in photo SCH1a, showing schallerite augen embedded in pink, microcrystalline rhodonite.  The radial arrangement of individual schallerite crystals is visible in some of the augen, particularly in the two indicated by arrows, where several conical crystals of schallerite are clearly visible, their apices pointed inward.  One of the augen near the center of the photo shows a grain of franklinite in its core.

Field of view: The horizontal width is 18 mm.
