Schallerite

Massive, brown to reddish-brown, type I schallerite and minor white calcite, part of a vein in gneissic willemite-franklinite ore from Franklin.  A chemical analysis of the schallerite in this specimen, no. FMM-1016 of the Franklin Mineral Museum, was given in Table 1 of Dunn et al. (1981).  Supplemental Raman and X-ray fluorescence data are on file at the FMM.  This specimen, originally part of the SPEX-Gerstmann collection, is probably from the same find as SCH3 the vein contents, matrix, and the angle between the vein and the gneissic layering are nearly identical.
