A fine specimen of dypingite in tiny hemispherules on a fracture surface in granular Sterling Hill “red ore” consisting of brick-red willemite and black franklinite. Note the curving chains of closely spaced to coalescing hemispherules; such chains are common in local dypingite and are a useful (though not infallible) clue to its identity. Formerly in the SPEX/Gerstmann collection, this specimen is now on exhibit in the Franklin Mineral Museum and is cataloged as no. FMM-466.
